We used to think that only young teenagers are entitled to wear contact lenses. But the fact is opposite. The children could handle contact lenses at quite young age. According to a recent study, children with 8 to 11 year-old could handle the responsibility of contact lenses just as well as their older peers.

In a three-month study, 10 nearsighted children tried to wear daily disposable contact lenses. At the end of the study, what surprised most people was that nine of the children had almost no problems in handling the lenses.

The result indeed is a great piece of news, as the parents will feel quite relieved since their kids could no longer have to wear glasses only. Many parents expressed that although the daily disposable contact lenses in this research are more expensive than other types, they would like to spare money for the convenience to their kids.

As what kind of children could choose contact lenses instead of eyewear, it should be determined carefully by the parents. Usually, the basic element is that the kid should mature enough to handle contact lenses. If the child has inadequate ability and habits to sort out his/her own business, s/he is not ready for contact lenses. But if your kids always handle his/her chores quite well, then your kid may be proper to try contact lenses.

Additionally, the contact lenses for kids should have high quality in air permeability. Also the parents could give proper care about kids, even if your kids could handle them quite well. For those in fond of sports, the parents could choose soft lenses. As they are lager and closer to eyes than other lenses, it is less likely for the contact lenses to fall off.

Wearing contact lenses is helpful for children to build up their self-esteem, as most children have a hatred for reading glasses. Also, wearing contact lenses could improve their confidence to some extent. With these advantages, if your kids are ready to wear contacts lenses, just give him/her the chance.
