Are You Familiar with These Eyeglasses?
Nowadays whether for adults or children, they are bothered by different kinds of vision problems including such three main types as myopia, hypermetropia, and astigmatism. The emergence of eyeglasses has brought about great convenience and safety because respective symptoms caused by these eye problems could have a great impact on our life.
For myopia, people could not see distance object clearly which has caused great inconvenience in daily life. For example, many vocations are only open to people with good eyesight, limiting the choice of job hunting for lots of people. For hypermetropia, opposite to myopia, people are unable to see close up objects clearly so it is quite obvious about its harmful effect. As to another vision problem, considerably different, people with such problem could not focus on a point object into a sharp focused image on the retina. Take a simple example, when you look up at the sky in the evening, you may have such illusion that there are two or more moons hanging there. Such beautiful illusion could bring about much inconvenience to you most of the time.
Fortunately with all these bothering visual problems, there have been various remedies among which prescription glasses seem to have been the most conventional widely accepted by most people. Based on lens power of eyeglasses, there are mainly single vision glasses and multifocal glasses. Single vision glasses, as the name suggests, deals with one kind of refractive error, remaining as the most favorite for the majority for some reason or another, having gone through many centuries. But as more and more people suffer from more than one vision problem, it has gradually brought about the advent of multi-focal glasses, accumulating popularity among people. It may be enough for most people before age 40 to wear single vision glasses, but the situation may have to change for those in their 40s. Bothered by both presbyopia and myopia, for example, multi-focal glasses are rather necessary. Multi-focal refers to bifocal, trifocal and progressive ones, among which the third is superior to the other two. Based on the same principle, progressive glasses incorporate more than one power in a single lens while bifocals refer to glasses with two different powers equipped, and trifocal lens has three powers or focal points. Apart from a superior advantage that progressive glasses have no visible lines, they can also offer progressive and smooth vision correction in a natural way.
As we all know, all these glasses are designed for different kinds of vision problems. Thus, all of you are supposed to learn something before selecting eyeglasses be it for yourselves or your friends.
