Knowledge You Must Know in Wearing Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are also known as corneal contact lenses. Due to their better optical result, the contact lenses are suitable for those with high anisometropia, monocular aphakia, and corneal irregular astigmatism and others. And also contact lenses are suitable for those with serious myopia, and those who are not suitable for wearing frame glasses, such as actors, athletes, and restaurant waiters and so on.
A major advantage of contact lenses is that they can show people’s natural beauty, so they are well received by the public. And the number of people wearing contact lenses has increased gradually.
The original material used in rigid lenses is polymethacrylate (PAMN), but currently soft lenses are widely used. Material for soft lenses is poly-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA). They have better air-permeable and water blocking property, so they are more comfortable to wear.
Some people should wear glasses, rather than contact lenses, such as those with eye diseases, such as trachoma, keratitis, and conjunctivitis. Besides, children should not wear contact lenses either. Because of the electrostatic interaction on the surface of the lens, no matter what kind of contact lenses, especially the soft kind, they absorb sediment easily. The sediments can not only affect the lenses’ function, but also cause eyes diseases, such as corneal edema, corneal infection, conjunctivitis, acute or chronic eyes hyperaemia and etc. So certain physical qualities and health knowledge are required for people who wear lenses.
Wearing contact lenses, another process you should not ignore. No matter how good the lenses are, you cannot ignore cleaning the lenses daily with multi-functional maintenance fluid and dissolving protein deposits on the lenses with cleaning tablets that contain egg enzyme. Only by doing this can we make the lenses more comfortable to wear and ensure a longer expectancy of prescription glasses.
At the same time we should maintain cleaning of the storage box, and prevent the bottleneck of liquid medicine being contacted with other items. And the used liquid medicine placed for three months should be thrown away, because liquid medicine could be easily contaminated and cannot disinfect lenses.
Due to the lenses tend to be very thin, wearing with long fingernails is not commended so as to avoid lens damage. In order to keep your eyes healthy, periodically re-examination to eyes is essential. And the time of wearing contact lenses is limited, so we should not wear contact lenses during swimming and bathing in order to avoid affect to eyes health and contact lenses.
