Lessen the Necessity of Wearing Glasses for Your Children
Nowadays, when we look around, we may find that nearly people of all ages wear eyeglasses for eye problems such as myopia, hypermetropia, presbyopia, or even amblyopia, which can be attributed to either improper eye habits, or some misconceptions, leading to some irrevocable mistakes.
For parents, it is quite necessary to pay special attention to the eye health of your children. How to avoid myopia or even amblyopia in children is quite essential as it concerns healthy growth of them. Never miss any chance to get early treatment or prevention for your kids.
Preparing your children for a regular eye exam:
For amblyopia, for example, which we commonly call lazy eyes, cannot be corrected with spectacles or contact lenses. It is caused when the brain uses one eye more than the other so one of the eyes is not used and clear vision does not develop in that particular eye. Owed to congenital or acquired causes, amblyopia is not easily spotted. When the eye condition is very slight so that many parents may not even notice, it is usually too late as your children may have missed the best time of cure. Thus, early detection and correction is quite important which means the best treatment time is before 4 years old.
What parents can do when they find children suffer from pseudomyopia:
Compared to myopia, pseudomyopia can be cured. Generally improper eye habits like lying in bed to read books, lead to fatigue in the eye ciliary muscle, resulting in vision loss. The vision can be restored if given appropriate rest or some eye drops. Pay attention to pseudomyopia as it may easily transform to myopia without proper treatment. So do not let your children wear an extra pair of eye glasses which they should have avoided.
A. To help children learn to identify the VA chart. If your children learn to read the chart, it will help the optometry.
B. To ask your children to keep good eye habits. As Children have no too much self-control, parents should try to limit the time children watch VDUs or Visual display units including TVs or computer screens. Every half an hour to one hour, let your children look afar.
C. To teach your children to learn to do eye exercises as soon as possible. Eye exercises are not that complicated, so you can teach your children, to learn them with some interesting ways such as gently humming rhythm to the exercise. You should guide your children to do eye exercise with you every half hour to an hour.
If your children suffer from myopia however, do not fret. Make an appointment with an optometrist to ensure an accurate pair of eyewear for your children to help them improve their eyesight. Anyway, a regular eye exam, good eye habits, and correct attitude to eye problems are extremely important.
