Protect Eyes from the Hurt of Computer

Computer is indispensible in current daily life. Lots of office workers accompany with computers during business time and play with computers at home. Bill Gates fulfilled his dream of a computer on every desk and in every home. We should well protect our eyes while enjoying the convenience brought by computers.

It is known that nearsightedness refers to that eyes only can see objects clearly within 40 centimeters. Generally speaking, the distance between us and computer belongs to the near distance. The thermal radiation and electromagnetic radiation directly hurt our eyes. Thus, facing it for a long time, a number of discomfort symptoms will be created, such as eye fatigue, blurred vision and vision loss.

Ophthalmology professors in the Ohio state university have said that eye fatigue is easily created by gazing computer for a long time. These continuing gazing behaviors gradually make eyes tired, and lastly lead to eye pain, vision loss.

Moreover, facing computer longer causes us stop blinking. In fact, blinking is very necessary and important, because it can make the tears moisturize our eyes. Hence, if stopping blink, corneal surface will become dry, and then make sight vague and cause eye fatigue.

Generally, when we face computer, blinking frequency reduces from about 20 times each minute in ordinary to 7 times each minute. This causes ciliary muscle surrounding eyes continue to be under the tense state. If so, the matter that the visual strength is seriously reduced leaves no room for doubt. Actually, make eyeball tight all day is just as tired as have done sit-ups for 9 hours. Therefore, students should protect eyes from the hurt of the computer.

In addition, blurred vision is the most common discomfort symptom when we see the computer screen a little longer. It is also the omen that our eyes need a rest, otherwise, our eyes would become more painful and tired or our vision would loss rapid. Then, we can close eyes for ten or more minutes or look into the distance to let our eyes have a rest. Usually, eye fatigue lasts for only a short time, as long as we relax our eyes, it can disappear. Otherwise it will affect our work and study.

Besides, we can relieve eye stress by installing anti-glare protective screen or decline the contrast of color and brightness. Also, we can keep our sight over the screen and make the top of screen in the same line with eyebrow. Or we can fit a pair of corrective and anti – irradiation glasses to protect vision.
