Take Lazy Eyes Seriously for Your Kids’ Health

As we all know, kids’ eyes are more delicate than those of adults, so parents need pay much attention on eye protection of their kids. A lot of styles of kids’ eyeglasses which are safe, lightweight, and skin-friendly are available in the market. But sometimes eyeglasses are not enough to protect kids’ eyes for there is an eye problem called amblyopia which we often call lazy eyes.

It is estimated that nearly 3 out of every 100 children get amblyopia. If someone gets lazy eyes, the brain only responds to the signals from one eye, and the other eye is the weak eye.

In order to make the weak eye become strong, there are mainly two methods. One is that corrective lenses are prescribed to help correct the weak eye. Such eyewear has a blurry lens for the good eye and a corrective lens for the weak eye. In this case, it will force the baby’s brain to use the weak eye, which could help the kid gain better vision. Without proper treatment, it could even lead to blindness in the lazy eye. Therefore, parents need keep an eye on the eye health of your kids. Otherwise, wearing eyeglasses, the traditional way to correct eye vision, cannot work when your kids are over a certain age.

Another method is quite similar to this. Eye patch is used instead for the good eye so that the weak eye could become stronger and get better eyesight. It must be very tough for kids to undergo such a long process of treatment, so parents need enough patience and care. Kids may be afraid to wear eye glasses or eye patch at first, so parents could use some measures to help overcome this problem.

For all parents, therefore, you should take your kids for eye examination regularly for fear of any eye problem. Timely treatment is needed to ensure eye health if your kids have such eye problems like amblyopia. Take it seriously.
