Q1: How do I place an order at GlassesShop?
A: Please click on the How to order? under “Good To Know” section on the left hand side.
Q2: What is eyeglass prescription and where can I get one?
A: An eyeglass prescription is a written order by an optometrist, ophthalmologist, orthoptist or an optician for eyeglasses. It specifies the refractive power to which the eyeglasses are to be made in order to correct blurred vision due to refractive errors, including myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. It is required by law your optometrist provide you with eyeglass prescription after an eye exam. Be sure to ask for a clear and legible copy from them.
Q3: How can you charge such low market price?
A: We are a 100% internet seller and our products are ordered directly from the manufacturer to ensure authenticity and to eliminate unnecessary retail costs that could be passed on to consumers. In addition, the process is completed all in one shop from lens production to glasses assembly. By doing so, our valued customers, like you, can save a lot of money while receiving our high quality products.
Q4: How do I track my order?
A: To track down your order online, you can log in to your account, from which you will be able to view the status of all your orders with us. Apart from that, you are more than welcome to contact our Customer Service any time via email at service@glassesshop.com.
Q5: Can I use my contact lens prescription to order eyeglasses?
A: While your contact lens and eyeglass prescriptions may seem the same, they usually have differences. You must have your eyes examined and ask for an eyeglass prescription (must be less than 2 years old) before ordering with us.
Q6: Do you have any offline retail stores?
A:Not yet. All the business is done online so far and we do not currently operate offline retail stores. However, we are looking for partners who run physical stores (any retail store or eye clinic). If you have resources, or if you are willing to cooperate with us, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Q7: How to Understand the Numbers on My Eyeglass Prescription
A: On a typical prescription, you will see two sets of rows. Most of the time top portion is for your OD or right eye while the bottom portion is for your OS or left eye.
For Distance correction, there should always be a value under Sphere and most of the time it is negative. Its abbreviation is 'D.V.' which stands for Distance Vision.
For Reading-only correction, there should always be a value under sphere and most of the time it is positive. If there is a value under Near Vision (N.V., N.V.O.) then enter the power in the BOTTOM half of the form and leave the ADD power blank or ("0.00").
For astigmatism correction, please note that that Cylinder (CYL) and Axis are always provided together. For any value of Cylinder there should always be a value for Axis. Some doctors use positive (+) cylinder and some uses negative (-), there is a big difference between the two so please pay close attention to the positive and negative signs. If you don't have astigmatism correction, doctors might just leave it blank or simply SPH or DS which means Sphere or Diopter Sphere. Axis should be from 1-180 degrees, if you see a value like '5' under axis, this is also the same as '005' or '5 degrees'. It should always be a whole number and there should be no decimal point on the axis.
For Bifocals and Progressive lenses, please check with your eye doctor whether the Addition is for Bifocals or Progressive. Most of the time, compared to the Bifocal Addition, the Addition of the Progressive is higher by 0.25, so please verify. An indication to know if your prescription is for Progressive is a PAL note written on the prescription; only one ADD means the addition for the Left and Right eyes are the same. Please be advised that we process a minimum of +1.00 and maximum of +3.00 for Addition powers.
Eye Doctors will sometimes leave out the decimal point on the Sphere, Cylinder and Addition. For example, -25 or +175, this is understood -0.25 and +1.75.
Very importantly, pay close attention to plus and minus sign as this will greatly affect the lens. If there is anything on the prescription you are not familiar, please call our Customer Service and we will be happy to assist you.
Q8: What is my Pupillary distance (PD), and how do I obtain it?
A: PD, or pupillary distance, is the distance from the center of the pupil (the black spot in the eye) of one eye to the other. This measurement refines the positioning of your lenses within the frame you have chosen. It can be provided in minutes by your optician or doctor, and so we recommend that you ask for it when you have your vision checked. Alternatively, you may ask someone to measure it for you but advise them to be at about an arm's length away from you. You can also measure by yourself by facing a mirror. For single vision lenses, you may choose to use an average PD of 63mm, but for Bifocal or Progressive lenses, we still strongly recommend to get this information from your optician. For your information, most adults' PD is between 55-65mm. Sometimes doctors will provide two different values for PD, below are some scenarios:
a. The values are higher like 65/60, the first PD is usually for Distance PD and the second is for Reading PD
b. The values are lower like 33.5/31.5, the first PD is usually for the Right Eye and the second is for the Left Eye.
c. The values are the same like 30.5/30.5; you can add these two values together as we only have one field for PD. We will just divide it on our end.
Q9: What frames are available in your shop?
A: There are a great variety of frames available for customers to choose from our website. When it comes to frame materials, we have plastic, metal, memory or flexible (frames that can retain their shapes after bending) and titanium frames. To meet the needs of different styles for customers on different occasions, we also categorize frames into five major groups: sports, classic, fashion, retro and clip-on. Please be advised that all of our frames are hypoallergenic to prevent allergic reactions from wearing eyewear products. Click here to see a complete frame list.
Q10: Do you have physical stores that I can walk in to fit my frames?
A: Regretfully, we currently have not set up physical stores in any location. The purpose of making GlassesShop an E-business oriented shop is to maximize our customers’ benefits by offering the lowest prices in the world. In terms of frame-fitting, please pay attention to the interior sidebar of each frame to see the dimensions that suit you best. You can compare this with the dimensions on the product info pages, or contact our Customer Service directly, from which you will be recommended for more frames that may fit you perfectly.
Please be noted that Glass Dimensions are measured in millimeters (mm) as the example shown below.
Lens width - Nose Bridge - Sidebars x Lens height
50 - 14 - 135 x 24
Q11: Do you have lenses that automatically darken in sunlight and then return to a relatively clear state indoors?
A: Yes, we do. These lenses are called Photochromic (or Transition) Lenses. Photochromic lenses are very convenient. They are light enough to wear indoors and darken to a sunglass shade when exposed to ultraviolet light outdoors. Please be advised that these lenses usually don’t darken as well as typical sunglasses and it is recommended these lenses should integrate with magnetic clip-on sunglasses when inside the car.
Q12: Can I have lenses that are tinted and photochromic?
A: No. Even though they are both colored lenses, there is obvious difference between them. Photochromics are changeable depending on the amount of ultraviolet light they are exposed to, while a tint remains constant at all times. Fashion tints can be had in almost any color, typically light pink, brown, gray, yellow, green, blue, red and so on.
Q13: Are there any restrictions on selecting bifocal or progressive lenses?
A: Yes. Not all frames are able to be assembled with bifocal or progressive lenses. The lens height of the frame should be at least 30mm so that it is big enough to include all viewing zones. We have made it easier for you to identify which frames can or cannot be done with bifocal or progressive lenses by putting a check mark beside each frame on the item pages. You simply check or uncheck the box to select these options. If you seek some professional advice for your lens choice, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Representatives.
Q14: How do I get a frame that fits me best?
A: It’s not very easy to get a pair that fits you best online, but following the tips below could help.

A: Please click on the “Help Center” on the toolbar and look for “Lenses and Coatings” on the left column.

Please include a note on the order form or call us as soon as you place your order, and we will make sure to note it on our end.
Q17: What type of bifocal lens do you use?
A:We use Flattop 28 for all our bifocal lenses.
